HISTORY

Welcome to Fellowship Christian Community Church! Established in 1966 at 8905 S. Figueroa Street in Los Angeles, California, our church has rich history of bible based teaching. Under the guidance of Pastor C. E. Porter from 1966 to 1993, now with Pastor Darryl E. Jones since 1993, we have continued to foster a welcoming environment focused on the truth of scripture and living under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Join us as we endeavor to live surrendered to Jesus Christ.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

THE BIBLE – We believe the Bible is divinely inspired: 2 Timothy 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21 The Bible is the infallible; inerrant word of God. Isaiah 1:2 – The Lord has spoken Jeremiah – 10:1-2 – Hear the word which the Lord speaks. Thus says the Lord… Ezekiel 1:3 – The word of the Lord came expressly. Hosea 1:1-2 – The word of the Lord that came…the Lord began to speak by Hosea, the Lord said… Jonah 1:1 – The word of the Lord came to Jonah. Micah 1:1 – The word of the Lord that came to Micah. Zechariah 1:1 – The word of the Lord came to Zechariah. Revelation 19:9 – John claimed, “These are true words of God”. God’s Word is the absolute and final authority for all matters of faith and conduct (Romans 15:4; Psalm 119:105). GOD – We believe in one True-Living God, eternally existing in three co-equal distinct personalities. GOD, the Father is the creator and preserver of all things. (Genesis 1:1; Revelation 4:11). JESUS CHRIST, GOD THE SON (John 1:1-14; 1 Timothy 3:16; Isaiah 9:6; Hebrews 1:8; Philippians 2:6) HOLY SPIRIT, GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT – He convicts of sin, regenerates, indwells, enlightens and guides (John 16:8-13; 1 Corinthians 2:11-12; 3:16; Romans 8:14). CREATION – we believe the Genesis account of creation. We also believe that all God created was perfect – including man. We believe that man by voluntary transgression fell calling all men to be born under condemnation (Genesis 1:2-7, verse 26 and verse 31; Genesis 3:6). Apart from the finished work of Christ and the regenerating work of the Holy Spirit, mankind is lost – The Fall of Man (Proverbs 20:9; Ecclesiastes 7:20; John 19:30; Romans 3:10-19 and verse 23; Romans 5:12). SATAN – We believe in the existence of the devil (Isaiah 14:12-15; Ezekiel 28:11-19). He is the enemy of God. He is the god of this age, the adversary of the believers, the accuser of the brethren, and the father of liars (1 Peter 5:8; Revelation 12:10; John 8:44). He disguises himself as an angel of light (2 Corinthians 11:14-15). His destination is the lake of fire (Luke 16:19-26; Revelation 20:10). SOTERIOLOGY – the study of the doctrine of salvation helps us understand how Christ’s death secures the salvation of those who believe. It helps us to understand the doctrines of redemption, justification, sanctification, propitiation, and the substitutionary atonement. We believe that the blood of Jesus Christ is the only atonement for sin and that salvation is by grace through faith plus nothing (Acts 4:12; Romans 3:21-25, 5:8, 6:23; Hebrews 9:11-15, 10:10; Ephesians 2:8-10). Redemption – Jesus Christ, through his sacrificial death, purchased believers from the slavery of sin and redeemed, rescued or set us free (Luke 21:27-28; Romans 3:23-24; Ephesians 1:7-8; Colossians 1:12-14). Justification – to justify is to proclaim a person to be just or to declare righteous (Acts 13:39; Romans 5:9; Galatians 3:24). We can claim justification with God only through faith in Jesus, not in good works that we do. Sanctification – to sanctify is to “make holy”. We are set apart for the use intended by God to live according to his design and purpose. God calls us to be holy as he is holy (Leviticus 11:44; Psalm 99:3, 5, and 9; Isaiah 6:3; 1 Peter 15:16). Another word for a holy person is “saint”, meaning a sanctified one. Propitiation – Propitiate means to appease or to satisfy. It describes how the wrath of God is turned away from us by the atoning sacrifice of Jesus Christ (Romans 3:25; Hebrews 2:17; 1 John 2:2, 4:10). Substitutionary Atonement – the substitutionary atonement refers to Jesus Christ dying as a substitute for sinners. The Scriptures teach that all of us are sinners (Romans 3:9-12 and verses 23-24). The penalty for our sin is death, but the free gift of God is life that last forever given to us by Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 6:23). ORDINANCES – We believe there are two ordinances ordained of Christ in the New Covenant for Believers: Baptism (Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 2:21) It was modeled by Jesus – Matthew 3:13-15 It follows belief and repentance – Acts 2:38 It identifies the believer with the death, burial and resurrection of our Lord, Jesus Christ – Romans 6:4 The Lord’s Supper (Matthew 26:26-28; Luke 22:19-20; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26) It was instituted by our Lord, Jesus Christ (Luke 22:14-20). It is a memorial to Christ, the sacrifice of his blood and his body. It serves as a time of examination (1 Corinthians 11:28). HELL – We believe in the existence of hell and the eternal punishment of the unsaved (John 5:28-29; Revelation 20:15). SECOND COMING – We believe in the personal, pre-tribulation, pre-millennial, and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 1:11; 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 19:11-16).

OUR VISION

We believe that God has commissioned Fellowship Christian Community Church to be a biblical and vibrant local congregation that celebrates the life of Jesus Christ.

We minister in relevance and excellence to the needs of believers and the un-churched in the greater Los Angeles County.

We labor that God's glory would manifest so that people would be drawn into relationship with Jesus Christ, and He would transform their lives for His glory.
